I survived the Damn Big Movie Premier for Serenity

Well where to start really. First off, the movie is amazing! Go see this movie, its easily one of the best movies I’ve seen this year so far tied with Cinderella Man. Getting to walk down the red carpet felt pretty cool, but I wished I had been able to bring someone along with me. Alas, when I signed up for the list for the event it was 2AM in the morning and I couldnt get a hold of anyone that I knew could commit. Luckily when I got to the theater I noticed some LASFSians, Tristan and his wife Kathy along with Pete and one other lady whose name escapes me right now. There were a ton of Browncoats that made it to the event, I estimate there was at least 200 or more of us. After the movie we all walked through the back lot of Universal Studios to the section they had marked off for the party, which was rather large I might add. Took great advantage of the free food and open bar (thank you Universal and Joss!). Then got to go inside the Globe Theater where the cast were eating and rubbing elbows. So allow me to go through the list of celebs I ran across or talked to:

Neil Patrick Harris (hey Doogie!)
Shoshanna Stern (the hot deaf lady from Weeds on Showtime)
Adam Baldwin (Nice guy, had a GoArmy pin on his suit)
Alan Tudyk
Summer Glau (damn, she was purty in her dress)
Nathan Fillion (was totally nice, real great guy)
Joss Whedon
Ron Glass
Mark Sheppard (Badger)
Morena Baccarin
Jewel Staite
Sean Maher

Plus there were some industry bigwigs from Universal and someone that looked like a young Michael Eisner but I couldnt remember the gentlemans name for the life of me. All in all it was a great movie and a great party and I wish the night didn’t have to end. I also met this really nice gal from Long Beach who is an Anthorpology grad student at CSULB that I chatted with for a while and gave my number. Mayhaps she’ll call back, who knows, it’s a funny world we live in sometimes.
