Xprobe2 update is out

The popular active OS fingerprinting tool used in Nessus, Xprobe2 has released a new update today with significantly updated OS fingerprints in its database for:

- FreeBSD 5.3; 5.2.1; 5.2; 4.10; 4.9
- Linux Kernel 2.6.9; 2.6.8; 2.6.7; 2.6.6; 2.6.5; 2.6.4; 2.6.3; 2.6.2; 2.6.1; 2.6.0
- Linux Kernel 2.4.28; 2.4.27; 2.4.26; 2.4.25; 2.4.24; 2.4.23; 2.4.22
- Microsoft Windows XP SP2
- NetBSD 2.0; 1.6.2
- OpenBSD 3.6; 3.5; 3.4
- Sun Solaris 10

    Xprobe2 is a tool that can be used to point at a computer on a network and based on its particular way of handling various kinds of special network traffic we can hopefully determine the operating system and version that computer is running. This is useful for trying to map out possible penetration tests to run against the system to see if it is secure or not.
